About

I learned this theexpensive way.

I’m Jon Tetreault. I have been in blockchain and cryptocurrency for nearly a decade — and I have made most of the mistakes I now teach people to avoid.

More about my background, the projects I work on, and everything I’ve written is at jontetreault.com.

Jon Tetreault

My journey started in 2016. By 2018 I had made a fairly major career shift — from working as a finish carpenter to going into blockchain full time. Like a lot of people, I was curious but overwhelmed by how complicated everything seemed.

What I found was that the industry does a genuinely terrible job of teaching the basics. The information is scattered, contradictory, and written as though you already understand it. So most people do what I did: muddle through, assume they are fine, and only find out they were not when something goes wrong.

In 2016 I lost 9 BTC and 50 ETH because I skipped basic security. That mistake is the single reason I do this now.

I built this course so nobody has to pay that particular tuition. It is not theory and it is not hype — it is the practical habits, tools, and checks that keep your money yours. No technical background needed. You just have to be willing to take it seriously for a couple of hours.

How it went

  1. 2016

    Got in

Bought first crypto, learned by trial and error like everyone else at the time.

  2. 2016

Lost 9 BTC and 50 ETH

Skipped the basics of security. It cost more than I care to write down, and it is the reason this course exists.

  3. 2018

    Went full time

Left finish carpentry to work in blockchain properly. Spent years learning what actually keeps assets safe.

  4. Now

    Teaching it

Everything I would cover one-to-one, condensed into 18 lessons anyone can follow.

What people say

I'm a pretty self-sufficient guy, but after consulting with Jon I realized how vulnerable all my crypto was. His guidance on security and protection was an area I was blind to. We went through my whole set-up and he saw the gaps and helped me implement best practices, so I had full control and knew what I was doing with it.

I tried to do my own research through YouTube videos and even bought an online course, and I felt more confused than when I started. I needed someone to walk me through it step by step. He met me where I was at. I feel like I have a solid understanding of what seemed impossibly hard to comprehend a year ago.

I had no idea what Bitcoin was but knew everyone was talking about it. After several sessions with Jon I know more in crypto conversations than people who have been in the game for a while, and that feels awesome. Honestly he undervalues himself with these prices.
